Power = voltage x current. 12v x 30a = 360 watts of power
24v x 30a = 720 watts of power that is twice the power at the same current draw. The bigger your wire, the easier it will be for the current to flow through the wire and the less power will be lost as heat in the wire. Also, multi stranded wire will carry more current than single stranded wire of the same gauge because of what is called skin effect. Current is carried on the skin of each wire. Multi strand welding cable works great.
