What type of boat do you have? Brand, length and model will help.

basically you just measure from where the moter will be mounted down to the water.the shaft length needs to be longer than this, long enough to keep the prop under water.in rough water the boat will bounce up so you might need even more length to keep the prop in the water.a deep v hull needs a longer shaft than a flat bottom, for example.like jigging15 said, it's hard to recommend anything without more info.i run a 54" minkota maxxum on my stratos bass boat for example.

I'm assuming you are mounting the TM on the bow of the boat? Your boat should have some sign of where it sits in the water...some boats change paint color at the water line, some boats are just green from sitting in the water!! Then imagine how big the waves might be that you would fish in. Measure from the top of the bow to the water line on the boat and add a foot or two or even 3!

Farren, going to assume it's the mod vee bass style, if so most likely a 42". If it's a deep V model revise to a longer version. Might consider contacting Tracker customer service through the factory web site, give them your boat serial # and ask what was standard on the boat in 2005. If you still have the original and want to know how to measure it shoot me a pm.
