    Default Good Bye Albert

Thank you Albert for an incredible 11 seasons! They were historic and we enjoyed every at bat. We will never forget the two WS you help bring home. Regardless what uniform you wear you will always be a Cardinal - we also understand business is business.

I've been a Cardinals fan ever since I was old enough to know anything about baseball - will be a Cardinals fan, regardless the wins and losses, until the day I die. Would have loved to have seen Albert a Cardinal for life - I was hoping to see him on opening day until he couldn't walk any more, just like the other Cardinal greats.

Kudos to management for not destroying the franchise for one player. 20-25 million may work for 5 years but what about the other 5? It doesn't make sense for any organization - hope the Angels know what they are doing. Let's turn our attention to the middle infield, bull pen, a right handed outfielder and put another great Cards team on the diamond. Time will heal the wounds.

We will always root for you Albert - except when you return to St Louis to play on the other side in the WS. Yes, we will applaud, cameras will flash, the ump will call time - but when it comes down to business you will be facing Wainwright's nasty curve and we will be looking for title #12.

EXCELLENT post Brad, very well said! Wonder how Ron Washington is gonna feel seeing Albert for 18 games during the regular season instead of just the world series.bash

Hate to see him go but that kind of money is just crazy for any player. Congrats to him for making it happen. Well deserved for sure. That will give us plenty of extra cash like Brad said to strengthen other areas so we. An make another run at the title.

10 yrs and a no trade contract for a supposedly 32 yr old. (he cant produce a birth certificate either LOL, wonder who the other one was?) Not good business. He will have a good 4 to 5 yrs there. wish him well, but root against him when we play them in the world series!!!!! Our beloved redbirds will be fine without him...

My favorite line today mentioned that the financial terms weren't fully disclosed, because he'll actually be drawing social security in the seventh year of that contract.

Well said brad. I agree we couldn't do it but the thought of albert in another uniform is almost more than I can stand he was my 8 year olds hero and he cried when I broke the news.
