Default Penicillin allergies. Be very careful. VERY IMPORTANT

If you are any one you know allergic to penicillin please be very careful with new meds. Check, check and double check to make sure there isn't an ingredient in them that is in the penicillin family. It doesn't take much. My daughter in laws sister is highly allergic to the stuff. she went to her dr. of 25 years for a sinus infection. Dr. prescribe meds and pharmacy filled them. Her allergy was on her records at the drs. and the pharmacy. Script got filled. 15 minutes after taking first pill she collapsed. Flatlined twice in ambulance on way to hospital. Had to be put into medical coma because her body was shutting down. She came out of the coma 2 days later for a short time. Now in another coma with brain damage from reaction to meds. It"s not looking good. So be very careful and pester dr. to make sure meds. are OK.

Sorry to hear about that, Perchplucker....prayers up.

Me and all my siblings are (supposedly?) allergic to penicillin, but not exactly sure. I think after the first couple kids were, my folks just said all of us were. Not sure what would happen if we were to accidentally get some. Thanks for the warning, tho, and I hope everything turns out well for her.

My wife is highly allergic so I'll be sure to caution her. My prayers go to your daughter-in-law's sister and family.
