X1 on the Muck boots. Another good alternative is find a military surplus store and get a pair of Mickey Mouse boots. You can Sportsman's Guide did carry them. Might check there too. Those are fairly inexpensive and are some of the warmest boots I've ever worn.

Muck boots have my vote (Woody Max). They are like wearing a pair of tennis shoes they are so comfortable. I put a insole heat pad in mine when it gets real cold. Tried the Rocky's last year and hated them. Very uncomfortable. For work I wear a 400 gram Red Wing. They are comfortable, too.

Had muck boots lasted about a year before they fell apart. I have worn Rocky for 20 years, light weight, durable, and quiet, and extreamly warm. They are flexable and allow for walking or climbing over various types of terrain without slipping or being uncomfortable.

I like a real boot versus just a rain boot.

like I said before, check the prices at your local farm supply co-op/ mfa store, then compare them to other sporting goods stores. I looked at the arctic pro's and I cant see much difference other than the tread pattern on the sole. if they are warmer, I'm not sure they would be as comfortable in warmer temps. I wear my woody max's for everything outdoors anytime the weather is cooler than about 65*. ultra sweet for fishing, doesn't hamper using a trolling motor like other bulkier boots. and if your legs get really warm, the neoprene part rolls down over the rubber easily, that makes them easy to get on and off.
also, I bow hunt on public land where you have to walk a mile or so back to get to the deer, while carrying a stand and gear. I have been doing this for at least 5 years now and my mucks have been on every trip. still have cleats on the soles and never get a blister.

you only had yours last a year??? wow, maybe I just got a good pair, but I have had my first pair for about 10 years, I have doctored the toe up a few times on those with automotive urethane. they are looking pretty bad, lol! but they still hold water out and kep the piggies warm so I'll try to get one more season out of em.
slayer, I thought the arctic pro WAS the more expensive boot, I think I paid 90$ for my woody max's. but that was before they became so popular in the hunting world. back then it was just what the farmers wore.

I am rough on boots. I hunt hard and on all types of terrain. They are good if you have to walk across a lawn but thats about it. When I am running ridges for turkey in the spring the sole fell apart on me. I run up rocky hills and sharp rocks, through creeks, fields, sloughs, and everything inbetween. Light weight and flexable as well as warm but not to warm as you dont want your feet to sweat, thats how they get cold.

But each his own. I have a pair of rocky corn stalkers which in my opinion is the best boot they have ever made, and they dont make them anymore so I refuse to throw them away. I have had them since 1997, but they are still working, but the sole is starting to wear thin on them now. Not sure what I am going to do when those have to be retired. I have other pairs as well, but these are my favorite.
