    Default Need some help

My son bought a Herters model U9 .270 bolt action rifle from an estate sale. The rifle shoots great but has a broken magazine spring. I've checked Numerich gun parts and Midway gun parts with no success. Herters rifles were manufactured by BSA in the late 60's and early 70's. I've emailed BSA also. They referred me to a store but I can't get a reply back. Would anyone know where I might be able to find another spring? Thanks

Chris, check with Wolff springs, gunsprings.com Also, check into a magazine spring for an Interarms Mark X. Basically Herters u9 is a modified Mauser. Hope this helps you.

OK, I did a google search, and these were the most direst responses about your weapon and parts search.

The U9 "bolt actions are made in England by her finest old double rifle gunsmiths." Offered in several grades: Hunters grade in 222 & 222 mag., 223, 22-250, 25-06, 243, 6mm, 284, 308, 270, 30-06, 264, 7mm mag, & 300 Win Mag. A Custom supreme grade was offered in above calibers + 338 & 458 mag.

Cabellas currently seems to 'own' the brand name and has some goods that carry the Herters brand.

Another forum site for Herter's U9's, but better british info for hard to find parts.

If the spring is shaped like the Greek letter "Sigma" (E), then I am pretty sure the Numrich part number is 1208560C. I'm not 100% positive, but for under $10 you can't go wrong.
Also, if you call Numrich, they used to give out free shipping coupon codes, all you have to do is ask.
