    Default Dead Batteries

Just thought I'd post this in case someone has been having battery problems. I've bought 4 new batteries in the last year ( keep going bad for some reason ) Turns out I have been keeping trolling motor hooked up ( Not Turned on ) just plugged in.Doh Noticed when I hooked up batteries that there was a spark ( open circuit ) It was in the trolling motor, I called Minn Kota and told them that my trolling motor was draining my batteries and he asked me if I was leaving plugged in and I said yes and he told me Minn Kota Maxumm 80lb thrust trolling motor has a circuit board that is constantly using power that I need to unplug when not in use. Hope this helps.Thumbs Up

I have a Motor Guide trolling motor and I always unplug it after I get off the water. I don't know if it drains power or not but just the idea of having it come on when its out of the water just gives me peace of mind!
