This formula only works if you were born in the 1900s (1900 to 1999). If you were born from 2000 going forward, your answer would only be 11. If you were born in the 1800s (like silverside), you will end up with 211. See the pattern?
Think of a number line....
A------------------------B--------------------------C
Start-------------------Born-----------------------Today
1900...........................1964............... .................2011
Obviously from 1900 to today is 111 years (C-A) which is the result of the formula. In the example above, from point A to B is 64. (B-A) This represents the first part of the formula which is the number of years from 1900 to birth. From B to C is 47 (C-B) which represents your age. Point A and C are fixed values. Point B is variable. For each year you were born one direction, your age goes the other direction. So you can see that there really is no magic here.
If you are one of those like silverside who fought in the civil war, remember your forumla result will be 211. Perhaps silverside will let you borrow his abacus.
Holy Cow... it's after midnight and this is what I am spending my time with? .... I need to get a life.....
