I have had a 4 cycle weed eater for several years, no issues at all, change the oil at the end of the season, and all the other maintanence in the owners manual, good to go next year, starts on 1st or 2nd pull still. It is a bit heavier, but well worth it to me.
    GO BIG ORANGE !

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

What I am waiting to try is the pole saw attachment that I purchased for it. We had a bad storm up at the farms a few weeks ago and I have alot of stuff to cut away from the fences and it will be getting a work out. Our son said the new Sears 2 cycle model we purchased for him was kind of loud. I just couldn't believe how darned quiet this 4 cycle was! And it cut so well! The darned thing don't even have a choke on it to start it with!

I bought a 4 cycle Troy Built trimmer with the little tiller attachment, metal straight shaft trimmer, curved shaft and a straight shaft string trimmer a while back. The trimmer is very dependable and I think it gets better gas "mileage" than my old 2 cycle that finally bit the dust.

The only thing I don't like about it is it seems to run out of string easily and I end up changing it out way too often. Oh well, it will be put up shortly for the winter and then I'll forget how aggravating it was by next spring.
I believe in catch and release.....right into the grease!!!!!

Yeah I know what you mean about the line usage. My trimmer head uses 2 pieces of line about a foot long and I thought they didn't last very long. I used the normal red craftsman line and I had to replace it once yesterday. I got some heavy black colored line also that I didn't try yet. But with this trimmer head it gives me 4 lines to cut with instead of just one. I would say really compaired to the old single line trimmer I used alot less line. To me it was just a hassle to change it.

How do you like your tiller attachment? I've been thinking of getting one. Does it work in this CLAY?!

Well I used the pole saw attachment today at the farm. Found it to work just fine. But sometimes the 11' reach wasn't enough but if I stood in the back of a pickup I could reach limbs lot more easy. The 8" cut was more than enough to do the smaller limbs I needed to cut. But I did cut several larger limbs that were big enough that I needed a tractor and log chain to pull them away. Granted I must admit after a while the unit did get a little heavy. But it was alot better than getting up on a ladder with a full sized chain saw. One thing be ready to get all sorts of saw dust on you falling from above. One thing if you decide to get one be sure and adjust the chain oiler so that you have plenty of oil hitting the chain.
