SMITHVILLE, Mo. --
Smithville Lake is now battling zebra mussels, which can disrupt ecosystems and damage waterways and water treatment centers.
The mussels, which are native of the Black and Caspian seas, were first found in North America in 1988. The mussels can damage water treatment and power plants.
The mussel was found on a Smithville Lake lift.
GRAND KIDS 4 IS ALL YOU NEED
Good luck native species, you will need it! I have been down at the spillway when they shut off the water and you could walk across the water on the backs of Asian carp. From the Asian carp to the zebra mussel, I wonder what life will for the native species in a decade or two?
