GRAND KIDS 4 IS ALL YOU NEED
Had a guy at work that had it done. He is now back to playing golf and is pain free. Sounds kind of weird the way they do it but if it works who cares how the get to it. I hope it is something they can do for you Fuzzy.
A friend of mine had it done a few years ago. They used a piece of cadaver bone to fuse in. He's doing great now playing racket ball every day.

Fuzzy. I know of three people that have had this surgery. One is doing great. No problems at all. The second says it's better, but still has occasional problems. The third has to have the surgery redone. On a different spot in the neck. I know that's not a lot of help, but my doctor explained it to me like this. The spine is like a chain. If you fuse one joint together, the spine still moves just as far. But the joint on either side of the fuzed section have to move further and will wear out sooner. He said, delay as long as you can stand it. That's where I'm at. Waiting. Good luck.

I had it done years ago they took a round plug out of my hip and drilled a hole in my neck and stuck it in .Really it wasn't to bad.

Fuzzy, it is called an anterior cervical fusion and is a pretty common surgery these days. It is like all surgeries, generally, the result is good if you are at a place where something must be done. But, there are risks with any surgery. Personally, if I could live without it and have some sense of a comfortable life I would avoid any surgery. If not, and you have a reputable surgeon, everything will most likely go well and you will enjoy some relief. Whether dealing with a doctor, lawyer or auto mechanic, if it is something important to you, I would suggest a second opinion.
