    Anyone know where i can find some pure lead?i'm pouring my own jigheads and need some soft lead,thanks.

    Bugman, go to your local auto dealership and ask them if they will give you a bucket/container of discarded wheel weights. Most dealerships throw them away (you can't reuse) if you don't have any luck, pm me and I'll bring you some to camp. They are REAL close to pure

    I have poured a lot of lead by melting down tire weights and it seemed pretty soft. There isn't a whole lot of slag that comes off when you melt it.

    Yup, wheel weights should be just fine for jig heads. Just don't make bullets out of it.

    I've tried some lead that wasn't very pure and it didn't work very well so i actually read the instructions that came with my melter and it said tire weights weren't very pure and they didn't reccomend using it thats why i was looking for other types of lead,i'll try a few and if they work i'll take you up on your offer Jack........thanks for the help fellas.

    Mr. CN just uses a Coleman campstove and a cast-iron skillet (small) to melt the lead and he only uses tire weights. Once in awhile he has to skim off some "stuff", but other than that he has really good luck with the tire weights and has used those for 25+ years for all his weights and anchors.
