    Default Mobile Broadband Question

    Good morning all,

Badaxed and I will be at Truman during the time ya’ll will have Crappie Camp and will take advantage of the invite so kindly given us.

I plan on bringing my laptop and am looking to go with a mobile broadband provider. I have a small business so the mobile broadband will have other uses for me too. In addition it is time to upgrade our cell phones. I am planning on going with smart phones and a Droid or Blackberry the choices so far. It appears that Verizon will have the best coverage for the Clinton area as well as good coverage for the travel we do between Racine, WI and De Soto, WI.

Looking for anyone that has experience with mobile broadband in the Clinton area and MO as a whole.

Thanks in advance for your help!!

Really looking forward to meeting all the “CRAPPIE EXPERTS” & hope to learn a lot while having a super time.

    Kind regards,

Can't help you much on anything but the cell phone coverage. Before I left Missouri before Thanksgiving I upgraded my cell phone plan on Verizon to Nationwide unlimited. I was in the following states and never had any trouble, TN, MS, LA & Arkansas. I was texting and also making lots of calls and I never had any problems.

Can't tell you about Verizon. T-Mobile sucks at Bucksaw (Truman Lake) but isn't a big player in WI anyway (I'm from Fond du Lac and get up there all the time...always rolls over to another carrier like Cellular One or someone else.) I had a Sprint Mobile Broadband device there but don't remember...I either didn't try it or it didn't work...I forget which.

For broadband, Verizon is much stronger at Lake of the Ozarks. I have an ATT phone (which works fine at the Lake) but use my laptop on our boat via a Verizon portable hotspot device. ATT broadband doesn't quite cut it there yet for laptop use.

Let us know how its working! I have been thinking about going with that Verizon card for my laptop that you just pay so much for one month at a time and you can cancel at anytime. A card for my laptop would be a waste for me except when I am away from home. Since we have wireless here at home with SBC. I just want something to get me online when I am gone.
