Default looking for a digital camera

Figure with all the sales, this would be a good time to get a new one.Looking to spend 100-150.I won't play that stupid"whats the best"game.

I want a simple easy to use camera, think they are called just point and shoot.Main feature I want is it to take pics fast without waiting 3-5 seconds in between.Second feature is long battery life or a rechargeable battery pac like a cell phone.Do they make those?
Last one has 2 AA batteries, then I got the rechargables, then the charger...PITA...just want to plug it in the car or house to recharge and have spare.

    Floating/water resistant would be a bonus:D

Any other suggestions or questions.Do ya'll use all the features on yours.I just take a butt load of pics, then edit them on the computer and keep the good ones.
Old camera is a olympus 1.3MP

I bought my wife a Kodak M1033 last year and it takes great pics and has the rechargeable battery like a cell phone has and it is 10 megapixel with a 3 inch lcd screen . It is simple to use and to transfer to your computer. She always carries it with her so I ended up buying one for myself last week. I payed $115 and it came with a 2GB sd card and a camera case. I think they are going to quit making them and their new one has the rechargeable normal batteries. You might try searching it online and get one before they are gone.

    I know it's more than $150.
    Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H20/B 10.1 MP Digital Camera
    Worth the price at $229
    10x zoom auto focus
    Rechargeble battery lasts hours.
We have one at work and it's the easiest I worked with for downloads.
The macro function resolution is so good you can see the contours of fingerprints. Amazing machine.

I'm getting the next model up for my wife once we get the $400 put away to buy it. I want the 20x zoom for wildlife pictures.

Here's two sites I use when camera shopping. The DP review site can be hard to navigate, but once you figure it out you'll find tons of useful info. Hope this helps.

Here's a link that you may want to read to narrow down your search: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/Q408...oup/page15.asp

Best advice I got was get something that uses regular batteries. AA for one I got, some require special batts. that are hard to find when you really need them. 170 pics. over 3 yrs. and just changed batts. last week. Canon A630, 8 mega pixels. Not real cheep,
    easy to download.

Between my company and home we have 5 Cannon "point and shoot" cameras.

The work cameras are used by many people and are out in all kinds of weather.

My daughter's camera is an upper level unit. She takes tons of pictures and has it with her constantly. She gets along well with battery life and speed.

My camera is with me in the truck and boat all of the time. I don't take a ton of pictures, but happy with the performance when I do.

They have been very durable and take good pictures. I would recommend one to anyone.
