We can unload and load that rig in the time that most folks take to load their small boats. Folks do groan loudly when they see a WOMAN driving a pickup pulling that long empty trailer heading for the ramp. :D One time at Mark Twain the storm was almost on top of us and two guys standing by the dock said very unkind things when they saw me pull next in line. The line was about a dozen deep with the winds picking up and lots of lightning!

When it was my turn, I whipped that truck around and had the trailer started in the water and Rick was almost to the trailer when it hit the water. We were out of the water in less than ONE minute because you don't have to ratchet it tight to head up the ramp! Needless to say their jaws were still sagging when I pulled the rig out! I did shoot them an EXTREMELY unkind glance as I was passing by them. I believe they probably were fully able to read my mind!!!! That might have been one of my favorite moments.

So take that, OSS!!!!:p As yes, Monte, I know full well that i have just jinxed myself and will not be able to get the trailer into the water correctly for the next seven years.

I've had him so long that I've really gotten attached to him. He's not part of the package deal! LOL Ask me in a week and my story might be different, though!

it because last thursday at the tally ramp a one boat ramp two toons were getting ready to unload, drank one cup of coffee while waiting, oh we got to get our stuff, (couldn't do it up at the top when they got there), finally they unload and the second one couldn't get his motor started and pulled the cover off the motor and as I was trolling over to tell him something not nice I think he got the idea and pulled it back to the top to work on the motor...... Now I know Novice u wouldn't do that would U????

Default Monte, you have struck a nerve

Monte, I promise you I would NEVER block the ramp or approach to it while I was piddling around gathering my stuff and carrying it to the boat or while I tried to get the motor going. That is the #1 pet peeve of mine at the boat ramp.

To me, you are supposed to be ready to launch when you pull in the launch line, not just thinking about getting ready. Not waiting on your wife or husband to pull up the support vehicle next to your truck so that you can lolligag along transferring coolers from the support vehicle to the boat along with life jackets, dogs and small children! Then also have lengthy conversations among friends and family all the while staring at the folks who are piling up in the line behind you and looking at them like THEY are the idiots! Then the support vehicle eventually has to go park so they move out of the way. Then it's the waiting game to get the boat trailer to the water.

We try really hard to get in and out and stay out of everyone's way. I pull to the other side of the lot to tie down (somewhere where no one will need to get if possible). I know lots of you all do this to or do whatever it takes to keep the line moving.

Now don't go thinking every mean looking woman in the launch line is me either, Monte!!!! :D

I do feel your pain or at least my husband does while he's sitting out in the boat on the water in the hot sun waiting to be able to get to load the boat and get on the road!

He tells everyone he's stuck with me because he's had me so long and I'm so old that I have absolutely no trade-in value. After 27 years of marriage, he has can safely say that outloud! :D

    Default Wonder where Monte is?

    too funny, DMW 1960!

I expected some grief from Monte over the long rant I had over people launching their boats and nothing.
