Hello, my name is Layne. I have a wife and two step-daughters. The wife loves to fish and the kids say they do (their attention spans make it hard for fishing trips farther than 20 minutes from the house but they still like to go). I am 31 and I have been hunting and fishing since before I can remember (I am the youngest of five and if dad wanted out to play he had to take us kids because mom wanted a break as well). No boat right now, had a 16ft john but didn't make much sense with two restless daughters and a wife with a bad back. My brother-in-law introduced me to the site, he is one of several crappie fishing fanatics that run around Holden. I can occasionally be spotted with him on Truman when I get the invite and the kitchen pass. I am currently in Iraq, I was smart enough not to join the Army but dumb enough to volunteer for an Army deployment, been in the Air Force for about 13 years now. I was lucky, the crappie were biting pretty decent when I was home on R&R in late October, brother-in-law took me out, we fell one fish short of two full limits and turned loose twice as many as we could catch. Right now I am bored off my behind and really missing hunting and fishing, well hunting and fishing fall right behind my family. Please keep the fishing stories and tips coming, it is one of my few sources of entertainment. Love the site. Everyone seems incredibly helpful and love to kid around. I might have to try and talk the wife into showing up to one of the camp outs to put some names and faces with user id's.
