I should have just fished my pond.
I haven't been on Smithville in about a month but had a couple nephews in from CA and they wanted to go Saturday. Waited for the rain and lighting to end so got on the water at about 10 am and fished till about 2pm North and the Branch and didn't find much but short fish.
I really didn't fish but showed them how the livescope worked and that's how we fished sort of. With the wind, two 20-year-olds who really don't fish and never used a 13-foot pole and me standing in the front of the boat, getting their snags off, re-trying and tiring to run the trolling motor made it just a tad bit difficult. They did manage to catch several but noting very big at all and maybe not even a 9-inch Smithville hog. We did run into a school of white bass that was fun for about minutes, but they were all small also.
Sunday was a pond clean out day. One or two times a year I catch some small bass and relocate to a local city public pond, so I use very small lures like a small top water popper and a 4" plastic worm. I caught about 14 to transfer but in the meantime accidentally caught three nice ones that all want back in. Got to thin the heard and I should do it more often.
