I hit it perfectly last year! Our group of three guys were there right when they started moving shallow to spawn. It was awesome fishing- then my brother went back the next weekend after the word got out! There were boats EVERYWHERE! Hopefully we will repeat it this year during our crappie get away.
Making a run south to Twain this weekend with a plan......... will let ya'll know if it produces.

As promised, an update. The plan wasn't original thought at all but, it worked. Focused entirely on rigging mouths of creeks and timber bout halfway back..... staged from 5 ft - 12 ft. and caught fish, although the fish higher in the water column were more active. Maiden voyage for some new electronics so focused on that for a bit but all in all, a success.
40 degree water so went VERY slow and had to plow through a ton of fish to trigger bites but they're there.
No pictures this time.......between new electronics/trolling motor and running a bunch of rods in a 15 mph wind, phone stayed stowed.

Good job! I'm sure the wind kept some at home, no doubt there was white caps in your live well! I fished a tourney on the rivers on Saturday and made a bait run out on the 'sippi. Between the barges and the wind, My partners 24 ft boat took a pounding!
