Thread: Crank bait trolling setups???

you bought have to turn with the back of the boat [big motor for a guide only not running] to keep lines from gettin tangled. i like to look forward otherwise you bought need a driver or your neck gets sore from looking back and forth lol. i know nothing about planner boards but 5 fish at one time i think would be a mess im used to reeling them in and let others drag behind, casting them back out pretty quick these arnt sippi crappie that might be different ball game lol

warbird would know about trolling cranks!

I have the same set up as Joe but I have Hi Tek. The passenger can sit in the stair way and grab the poles when fish is on.

You don't mention what type of boat you have, but the driftmaster clamps will mount to a 7/8" or 1' round rail if your boat already has rails. if your boat has the track along the top rail to mount accessories to, you can make a mount that will accept the driftmaster base, and then the entire rod holder can be placed anywhere along the side of the boat (front to back) and be used for various methods of fishing (spider rigging, pulling cranks, longlining, etc). You can even get trolling racks that will go across the entire width of the transom if that's the style you want.

I have a Ranger 198VX and the new has worn off enough now that I can drill some more holes in it if needed.

I have a 1754 Grizzly with accessory rail. Anyone have a picture of how they built a mount for the Driftmaster base?

I had a G3 1860sc. EZ Poleholder in Mississippi built a trolling rack for the back of that boat very similar to the Driftmaster T-5000 trolling system. Driftmaster rod holders fit perfectly on the bar. I spaced rod holders all the way across the back of the boat.

I am digging the T-5000 set up. Have not been out to measure my deck yet. Almost thinking it could be used on back deck as well as having other bases for it and use it like Warbird's setup and place it right in front of the consoles. Got to get some dimensions of the T-5000 and get some measurements on my back and front decks for width and also height of my consoles. This is going to get costly. I also believe the T-5000 and driftmaster rod holder would work for some drift fishing for bluecats of the back of the boat.
