    Default Aqua Vu Micro

Has anyone got one of these and used it? I got one but wasn't able to make it on the water this past weekend, but used it off a dock at a local lake- saw a lot of bluegill, crappie and a bass under it, which was a good sign. Neat little hand-held portable unit that may remove the "are they there?" part of the equation. It may just show me how many fish are snubbing my minnows and jigs though.

Yes got one for Christmas. Got to use it twice so far. On time at the local conservation lake. Fish finder showed lots of fish around trees. Checked with camera and NO fish. No wonder we couldn't catch them. Lol. Got o try it his spring at MT. Fish finder was showing fish. Checked and they were on the bottom swimming around. They were crappie. Had to drop own o the bottom to catch one. Most just ignored the minner. Then the rain started and haven't been able to se it since.

Good to know it worked at Twain-that can be a pretty murky lake. I used it at the docks at Belcher Branch lake and it wasn't real clear water and I could still see fish well in color- they were only 3-4 feet down though. I believe it switches to infra-red after the light penetration diminishes, so color won't stay visible and it will be basically B&W mode, but that still should work for species ID.

Had an Aqua Vu rep tell me they are only as good as them clarity of water. He said as much as he wanted to sell me one, using it at Truman would probally be a waste of money. Drop a jig in the water and what ever depth you can see it thats how fat the camera can see in front of it.

Yep- no way to see through very murky water, that is for sure. Most of the water I fish on the west side of the lake is typically fairly clear, so that was the deciding factor in me spending the $250. I didn't buy the DVD recording version-those jump up in price pretty quickly.
