Default Looking for MT experience with weather.....

We are supposed to be coming up to Mark Twain next weekend. I have only been up there fishing one time, so my knowledge of of that lake is nonexistent... It is still a long way off but as of now they are calling for rain W-Th-F. I would think that this would ruin the crappie fishing for several days???

    Would catfishing be any good?

    Thank you,
    Mike

    Mike,

All depends on how much rain and is there any type of cold front or major weather event that takes place. Major rain, try to find the area of the lake least impacted...... lake on a rise, do some homework and find out how much it has risen because with the fish where they are in the spawning pattern they will stick with their original beds.

I'll let Greg (South Point) and the other guys jump in on catfishing but generally speaking if the rivers are running I think the catfishing picks up.

    Good Luck!

    U

iif the lake is on the rise the catfishing should be on fire up in the arms, or about anywhere there is current coming into the lake. finding big shad is the hard part at twain, at least for me it has been. I hate to fish without fresh shad, but sonney's dip bait or chicken liver will sure catch the snot out of channel cats in a pinch.
hopefully the water will stay about steady and the crappie bite will be hot!
