smithville today
Went to smithville this afternoon. Managed four keepers and a few dinks. I was fishing brushpiles in 30 ft of water. Has anyone fished around the marina? I saw lots of activity on the fish finder but was unsure if it is ok to fish around there. The marina was out of minnows or I would have gotten a dozen.

I've fished around the marina this fall/winter. You can fish it but you should stay in the boat and don't trespass by walking around on the docks. You can pull your boat into slips and fish vertically around the middle/walkway. You have to pattern the fish as to where they are located and how deep. I've even caught a couple shooting jigs into the slips and allowing the jig to free-fall and slowly working back. I woundered if the marinas had minnows during this time of the year- I have been bringing my own from the local bait shop in St.Joe. Sounds like the marina is not a dependable source. BTW- which marina were you at- Camp Branch or Paradise Point?

you can probably get minnows at Ectonville, or maybe at Roger's if they are open when you come up.....don't know if Roger's sells them any more, so call before you go
