Can the navionics chip be link to both fish finders or must you buy 2 chips for 2 fish finders.

I can't speak for Lowrance but Humminbird's won't share nav chip data. If you want that data on both units you would need 2chips. I only have one chip and it has never been a problem.

I have two different units and I just pull the chip out of one and put it in the other whenever I need to. Just make sure you power down before doing any of that. I usually just keep the chip in the console unit most of the time.

I was thinking about looking into purchasing Navionics for my HDS units. I have Lake maps now so I'm not sure if their much better than what I have. I was told that you can share them with the NMEA network system, but I can't speak to that with personal knowledge. Just info from Sports Show.

The lake insite that comes with the units is not very detailed. I fish
Truman and loz a lot and going to get the new version of lake masters
for the increased detail. I have an older navionics chip now and they
are good but unable to update if made before 5/2010.

Low gen 2 well share mapping via ethernet but only gen2 to gen2

Lake Insight in my Gen 1 HDS units was the best mapping I have seen yet. It has never got me in trouble running the upper ends of Truman the last 5 years. Also if you are running a Lowrance unit you will not be able to use the Lake Master chip.
