Big river is to crest Apr. 4, 3 ft. higher than it is now. Lake George and Wolf lakes are rising now. Wolf rose .10 ft in two days. The Yazoo River is backing up because the Miss. is at a high level. If the spillways up north aren't shut down and the Miss continues to rise, the lakes down here will experience a rise of at least 3 more feet. That's not good for the spawn. The water temps are reaching 67 degrees in spots in Wolf and the males are moving to the banks. Will this rise shut them down again? I wish the COE would quit playing Mother Nature.

I'm more worried about an invasion of Asian carp. They're already in the Yazoo. If they migrate with the backwaters, I assume they will wind up in Wolf. I hate that. They could ruin that lake.
they can and will ruin it over time. I've watched tunica cutoff's steady decline over last 3 yrs. when the sun is just right @ cut-off you can see them just under the water by the hundreds (if not thousands) cruising around in groups of 15-20. for lack of a better term, they suck in the worst way. Check out the post about reelfoot jumping carp. No one knows what to do about them. Several small river lakes near memphis are completely over run and have put a few baitshops out of business..just ask Jim @ Island 40 lake
Why don't we kill these things off!!! What is the easiest way to do it? Anybody!!![]()
I hope they don't make to Wolf. It's a great place to fish.

shotguns.... but they won't allow it (legally anyway).. problem we are gonna have to deal w/ for a long time....if any of your waters touch the MS river, directly or indirectly, they will eventually get in.
