I’m not sure if Brad Chappell does much guiding on Arkabutla, Enid, Sardis, or Grenada, although he does guide Ross Barnett Reservoir and Lake Washington, and he pulls crankbaits as one of his techniques. While I haven’t caught anything from pulling crankbaits since November, I may have to pull the crankbait pulling rods from the rod locker next week if I want to fish because it has been too windy except for a few occasions to spider rig properly.
I started pulling crankbaits last May when the crappie started moving out of the spawn pattern and did it all summer and fall. I definitely like that I have a larger window of wind to work with (The Rez starts whitecapping at 10 mph sustained, especially from the north), and I create an artificial breeze moving 1.5 mph, which helps a little bit during the summer.
