On here I see people post about catching lots of shorts on Enid and Sardis and only a few legal fish 12-13” fish. But on Grenada I see less numbers and shorts but bigger fish being caught. Ross Barnett I see more somewhere in the middle with not as many shorts but quite the number of bigger fish.

Also in last 10 years guide trips for crappie has picked up but in last 5 years it has exploded. And more guides on Grenada than the others. Also the number of tournaments and people fishing g them has greatly increased. And most every tournament hits Grenada as a stop in the fall or spring. They still fish the others but not as hard.

Also livescope has turned some into numbers fishermen and some into trophy hunters.

These are just my observations and opinions. Now would I pay a guide 350-500 to catch 10 fish, nope too much.

Yup. My in-laws were at Sardis a couple weeks ago and caught 32 fish and didn't have a single keeper, threw every one of them back but watched a boat near them put every fish that boat caught in the cooler and then the boat met somebody on the shore to drop off the cooler before heading to the ramp. The wardens need to get out on the water and check and not just camp out on the ramp checking live wells when people come in. The locals are hip to the game and hand their fish off to somebody on the shore before heading to the ramp.
    I got 350 heads on a 305 engine.
I get 6 miles to the gallon.
I aint got no good intentions.

    That’s just low down there.

800-BE Smart is the report line to GW I think. Probably too late to get them but maybe they’d think twice before next time. And ramp check wouldn’t catch that. But a campsite check might.

Camp site check means nothing . All they need to say is that they were caught below the dam . Saw a man clean 44 at persimmon hill campground on a service table . Got to be caught on water and that is no easy task .

LiveScope leads to lower crappie limits at popular MS lakes (clarionledger.com)

The new limit on crappie goes into effect July 24.

I griped about that on my home lake for years. Big campground on the water right on the prime fishing grounds. They would fill a cooler and go swap it for an empty. Then spend most the night cleaning fish. Nobody needs that many dang fish.
They did this even back when the limit was 50, and they had multiple fishermen in the boat.

Thanks for all the comments. I posted a few months back and asked if anyone thought there would be any changes coming down the road and had mixed comments. In some places I dont think livescope has had a tremendous impact on the population but on these flood control lakes they have been hit hard year round the last couple years. We will see what the future holds and how much these changes will help. I'm wondering how long before places like Texas and Oklahoma start cutting back their limits?

It’s not confined to the locals. Read the news reports of all the out of staters who have been caught doing what you posted, and worse. It’s a huge problem exacerbated by lack of personnel in law enforcement. I fish the big 4 exclusively, and fish at least 3 days a week. I’ve been checked once at the boat ramp in 2024. I have yet to be checked on the water.
