Back when I was in high school, don’t ask, my summer job one year was with the AG&F (Arkansas Game and Fish), where we would sein the bar pits along the levee on the Ms river side. We used a 90’ sein with a two inch mesh, 5 of us pulling this thing. Our job was done for the day when we filled 6 of the 55 gal barrels to capacity. We dumped the fish in Grand Lake, and a lot of local ponds. Sometime we would make one drag and fill the barrels. If it was ever over two drags, it meant we had been there before. Point is, you could do this after every time the river flooded those pits. So, yes, I believe fish get trapped in pools and if they dry up, the fish die. Varmit food.
