    Default Quick Wade Trip Update

Hit Enid for 3 hours yesterday. Walking in from a couple of ramps on the north side. Caught 12 shorts and 5 keepers. Only 2 females caught and they had already dumped thier eggs. Pink 1/4 oz jig head with 1/0 hook. 3 inch red/chart arkie tube with Johnson Shad scales shot up its arse and a smear of slab sauce on the outside. Super aggressive when you find them. It is my opinion at least in the area I fished that these fish were already on beds in about 3 foot of stable water before the COE raised the lake this weekend about foot. This made it hard to reach the fish that wanted to bite. Tip toeing in waders can be hazardous. Not saying some are shallower but for me they seemed to just a bit out of wading range post rise.

It was the toughest wading I have ever done with the wadable water this year waay up in the woods. Felt like a beagle on a rabbit hunt. Very brushy, bottom a little squishier, and so much vine and trash and limbs that hang ups are constant. Definitely not the typical walk from stake bed to cypress to grass clump. This was full on rabbit hunting. Needed chain saw safety glasses and chaps over the top of my waders. Have fun they are there this week for sure.

PS. Stopped by my Big River Marine on the way home to shoot the bull with Bill. Dude is sooo busy selling boats I could hardly get him off the phone. He has some great rigs on the lot and he makes great deals. Aint a better dealer out there IMO. Give him a holler holler.

Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.

One thing I have learned is that once they start spawning they will stay right there until done no matter how much more water comes in. That said, I don't think the spawn is near done at Sardis. I've caught mostly only males the last month. About the time they wanna start it gets cold. I've pretty much caught em spawning thru May anyway on a good/normal weather year. My two cents. And I know what you mean on the wading. Tough stuff to get thru. Another thing is how sad how much trash is in these lakes. I know Sardis has tons of trash back in the woods. Horrible.

We will have to get him a five gallon bucket to use as a cap. We could spray paint BRM in chartreuse yellow letters on it since that is his favorite color.

Lots of spawned out females were weighed in at the Sardis fruit jar tourney last Saturday.
