Ky is leading the way with research, and has a dedicated Asian Carp team here at the Twin Lakes area ( Ky and Barkley lakes ).
In a presentation and discussion this past July, the Fed's finally admitted to their faults and ignorance about these invasive species. Once the backwaters flooded the commercial ponds and these fish escaped into the waterways, the Feds felt that it was fine due to these never being able to survive the Mississippi River, the climates, and the river environment.

Hence, we now have a major problem that a majority of people don't know how to remedy. Accountability was thrown out the rear window, and funding has been low and slow.

The KY Team has reached some new evidence that is probably leading them somewhere. These invasive fish do not like warm winter waters where bacteria can begin causing infection in their gills eventually dying. They also can not handle excessive oxygen levels due to their gills design.
Their gills are different that all of the native fish, so there are beliefs that things can be done in this arena with the gills being a target point.
