I think my son and wife will be camping this coming weekend. They like to get the point at Dub Patton. I'll try to get them to meet us at South Abutment so we can kayak the gravel pit from the campground instead of driving or paddling across the lake.

This is what makes fishing so interesting. If we caught fish every time we went out it would get real boring to my notion. Now think about what you did and what you could have done. Then go and try something different. I sometimes get caught up in trying to fish the same way and same places. Then went the fish change up I am doing all the wrong things. Remember when fishing for them if they don't bite don't keep trying there try somewhere else and something different. I get skunked a lot my self and really love it. It makes me fish harder than ever. Just about the time I think I have them all figured out they throw me a curve and I am reading and learning more and more to figure out what went wrong. I fish way more than I post reports and pictures. I love to fish even if I don't catch a fish. Like the old saying a bad day fishing is better than a good day doing????? anything to my notion. Try you another plan of attack tomorrow and I will be looking forward to your reports and pictures.
Be safe and good luck fishing

It's been many years since we could camp and fish off days, catch enough for a dinner while camping and carry home a few bags for dinners later.
Lower Sardis Lake use to be a great place to fish until the weir was installed.

With rain in the forecast for saturday night and sunday Debbie didn't want to be packing up or driving in the rain. Dub Patton campground is closed due to some plumbing problems. My son didn't make reservations so he found out when they got there. South Abutment campground was almost full, the better spots were taken. I drove down saturday morning and we fished the gravel pit for 4 hours. We didn't get a bite. I tried from 4 ft to 20 ft deep. A couple in a pontoon had been there since daylight and had 1 keeper out of 40 throw backs. They were caught earlier than when we got there. The wind out of the southeast kept us moving without paddling.

Falling water makes it tough!Fish are constantly on the move.Find the bait stacked up and usually you will find a few fish at least. Now getting them to bite is a whole new challenge!Good luck in the future!
