I built my own steps when I bought my Excel. I've had a bunch of folks want me to build them for sale. Ambulance chaser lawyers took any incentive I might have had. I feel the same about them that I did building deer ladder stands for sale. Just not enough $$ there to risk getting my butt sued off.

I like the way this guy thinks,,, cheap and very effective way to build steps for your trailer,,,

I find lots of pictures, but no measurements.

Every boat is different Cane,,, some are higher or lower then others....Mine is fairly low so I need less steps to reach top of my boat while other may need two or three steps.,.

You're right.
How far below the tongue for the first step?
How far above the tongue for the second step step?
How much space between steps?
Width of steps?
Angle of steps?
Anyone close to me that has a trailer step so I can copy?

Sounds fun, I like a good DIY project. When me and the guys get slow around the shop we will fab me a set for my boat. I step off the bow onto the spare tire on the tongue of the trailer right now. Be nice to have the steps with a hand bar you can grab a hold of.

Here are pics of the unit I copied for mine. I dropped a step below for 4. I wish I had built my steps just a bit larger. Attachment 275487Attachment 275488Attachment 275489

I had been thinking about building some steps for sale but thanks mrdux, I had not considered the liability in the era of lawsuits. It just takes the incentive out of it to make a few dollars or a chance of losing everything you own.
