    Default Terrova or Ultrex

Can someone explain the differences between the Terrova and the Ultrex? I've got an 18/60 War Eagle and would like to upgrade my trolling motor and don't know which would best fit my needs. I do more spider rigging than pulling cranks/long lining or single poling.

Thanks in advance for you input!

Spot lok. Is a lot more accurate and the foot control is more preferred on the ultrex

Terrova is strictly electric drive, does have a flat foot pedal.
Ultrex is an electric drive, cable drive combination. Very quick turning and for the big fisherman the cats meow.
For me I like the Ultera, self deploy and stow is a great thing fishing alone or guiding.

That's not entirely true, spot lock is the same on all the new models, so a new Terrova has just as good a spot lock as Ultrex or Ulterra and it is much improved

I'm new to the I pilot trolling motors and all, but got my Ultrex a few months ago. My decision was based on my type of fishing, I chose the Ultrex for the cable / electric steer assist on the foot pedal. I like to single pole fish a good bit of the time and the Ultrex foot control was what sold me, better response and feel with the cable steer. If your trolling 99% of the time then I would say the Terrova would be sufficient for your needs!

If you don't single pole much or at all, I would get the Terrova and save your scratch for something else.

I have the Ultrex, I love it, I had an older Motorguide Pro Series before, night and day difference, I pulled crank baits for the first time at Crankfest, sat up front using the remote the whole time facing the rear of the boat, very easy to operate. Spider rigging I use the remote and foot control.

If you like to use a foot pedal single poling tops, shooting docks, or casting get the ultrex. If all you do is spider rig, longline or pull cranks and such the Terrova will be fine.

I have the Ulterra. At 65 I am not as sure footed as I used to be and when fishing water that has big rollers, Sardis, going overboard was a concern. Being able to deploy with out getting on the nose of the boat is the berries.
