Then we come back to the old reliable, it's all them pictures. Maybe it has more to do with all the fishermen having family and friends they tell when they're catching fish, they teach em to fish and enjoy it and then those close ones share it with others and get more people excited about fishing and the sport grows and grows. What is the intended end goal of these guidelines?
Is this petition trying to add guidelines pertaining to safety (I.E. requiring insurance, safety inspections, coast guard licenses, and things of this sort) or is it aiming at controlling, monitoring, and/or reducing the pressure by regulating the amount of guides on the water? Either by physicality limiting the number (either by quota or by only allowing a certain number of permits per lake, or even making it so expensive that some cannot simply afford to guide?
Until the deep water horizon accident I worked several years as a guide fishing offshore blue water and have seen it done both ways both to the benefit of the industry and fisheries as well as to their detriment.

best way to protect the asset would be to ban lowrance, hummingbird, garmin, etc. from making fish finders, but i guess we could also stop most highway accidents by banning automobiles. supposedly they are regulated, but i see people speeding, drinking and driving, jaw-boning on the phone, and running redlights daily, so i am not convinced that "regulating" anything means much if the regs are not enforced. just saying.... :dono
My only thing is, when this movement began I got a message calling for a $10,000 guide fee. Then this will cause guide trips to jump to $1000 per outing. I've not seen any problem with numbers of fish, quality may be bad on some lakes at times, but I bet enid produces good fish once they set up on summer pattern.
But, if the limit does go to 10 14" and up fish, that sounds like whatever we are doing is working. These lakes produce these huge fish because enough fish are take out every year through either the spillway or in coolers. I just don't see a pressure problem. Maybe a low water problem causing crowding at ramps.
Think this is going to open a can of worms, I would be glad to buy a permit and report yearly Catch or whatever. But it sounds just like the Out of stater mess that usually gets started. I don't see the cause for alarm

Fact is the fish are presured on all sides. Everybody wants to fix the problem by placing blame on someone else..If you dont think quality and numbers are down from previous years...then maybe you are kidding yourself...I would say let people fish by any legal method they like, as long as they stay within the law..let them fish, and enjoy..I do feel the guides take allot of fish out.. More than their personal share. If you do the math..allot of money is made . It is not an easy job, and a good guide earns every penny. They should have to pay something for this privilege..but nothing near $10,000...
