TN boy weighing in, because I am impressed with this thread. I have never fished in Mississippi, and have never even laid eyes on these famous lakes. And, yes, they are famous! This time of year is when everyone becomes a great crappie fisherperson. Well, everyone but me! IMO, trips are going to be made, and those in colder climates are going to migrate toward warmer climates for these trips. Does it coincide with this or that fishing report? Certainly, and I think that is what the OP is saying. If there were no reports would they come? Most definitely. I am seeing the "park in the grass" time of year here in TN. I saw it this weekend on Watts Bar, and go through the archives and see how much detail you find on that lake. The answer, not many. Somehow people knew the fish were here. Why? How? Again, my opinion, it's spring! We all become pros! Well, all but me. I am going to trust those in power to understand how much pressure our lakes can take, and set creel and size limits accordingly.

I fish, therefore I am!
I see some good ideas, comments, intentions, and opinions so far.
Just for the record though, I am an officer on a merchant vessel and don't hold a commission in any military branch. Worked with the Military Sealift Command before and have had the pleasure of serving alongside active service members and with many veterans of all but the Air Force but I do not want to sully their commitment and sacrifice or in any way steal their valor. I just move cargo around the gulf and inland waterways for the time being. I only answer to a uniformed officer of the Coast Guard should I mess up out here.

I will just say this. I've seen a big 4 lake go from 2 to 4 cat fishermen a day for a month to 90 crappie fishermen in 3 days after a detailed report. I'm not just a seasonal fishermen that goes every now and again. I'm out there on the lakes ur telling me that doesn't get pressure from reports. I'd agree if I didn't fish here. Spring time is just busy. Let's use June as an example. How does Dead Sea turn into a jubilee?
