    Default New to Sardis

I am new to fishing Sardis and fish from a kayak. I usually fish the clear creek area but have read the report where people are picking fish up around dead timber. I am limited on my distance so it is hard for me to scout many places for dead timber. In the summer months I fished hurricane some but that is all dried up now. I thought I could see dead timber northeast of clear creek but was not sure. It would have been a long paddle to get there to be no timber or way too shallow. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I could find some good single polling area that is within a mile or 2 of a boat ramp? I can generally launch about anywhere as long as I can walk to the water and not be knee high in mud.

Have you single poled the docks in the marina? Be some good fishing pretty much anytime of the year and easy access in that yak, just a thought. I know very little about Sardis but hopefully someone else can help you with the main lake, good luck and stay safe.

I did single pole the docks during the summer but was hoping to single pole some shallows during the fall. I would pick up some small fish around the docks but did not have much luck picking up larger fish there.

Give it another shot as water drops and gets colder. Them good sized fish have been known to stack up in there. Don't limit yourself to just the docks. Try some in the deeper water around the marina.

Ain't sure, last time I was back on that end was third week of July. Log recorded 261.2 average depth 17 feet out in front of Wyatts. Had heck getting in blackwater at 257 this past March. Level at 241.7 now. MDWFP reports Indian Mound opened, past hurricane. Water pretty skinny back there if I had to guess. But that's where the timber is, I think you could float a kayak at Holiday (low ramp) go directly south and hit some timber. I was out there yesterday, but fished the west end rigging in main lake.. sorry.. Beware of your wind in a small craft though.. bout beat my 16 foot tin to death yesterday morning.. plumb beat 4 dozem minners to death, dang near :-)

Go to coontown see if you can put in there find 3' water with timber. Haven't fished Sardis in a couple months. Been jigging Enid and Grenada this fall.

Thanks for all the input. I have not tried holiday lodge but I did try coontown a few weeks ago and the water was way out there. Wasn't sure if my truck would make it anywhere close to the water. I will have to lookup Wyatts as I am not sure where that is. I try and use google earth to find some areas but not sure how low the lake was when the image was taken. It appears to be pretty low on the image.

You can put in at Wyatt's at any level, just a pretty good current when its real low if I remember correctly.

There is no timber left to fish at 241. It's all dead and broken away. Wyatts is nothing but the river channel and silted in in a lot of areas. I would suggest sinking some of your own structure or building some low water structure when the water goes down. I feel your pain but it's part of fishing these corp lakes
