You should know that anyone that is consistent at placing in tournaments is going to keep there secret that's what separates them from the rest.

If you have caught a limit the way you are fishing why in the world would you stop fishing that way.

Check out the guys that usually finish high up. Break out the binoculars and watch what they are doing. If they are pulling cranks note their track and follow them. Spider rigging just pull up and tell them you were really on them there yesterday. Tell them you don't mind them sharing your spot. All else fails break out the trolling weights. You couldn't help it if the fish had been swallowing them. Works best with the ones shaped like fish.
Got to get 7, then try and upgrade. Some days I wish I had 7!!

I did misunderstand your question. I have fished a lot of tournaments! If I have seven weighing fish I will swap to a different color bait or a larger bait. I am a longliner and I normally pull Kalins, Triple Ripples and Southern Pro Hot Grubs. I have only pulled crank baits one time so I am a Rookie at that technique. I have read where a well known crank bait guy said he would fish water that had less fishing pressure. Hope that helps! I will be back in Mississippi pulling cranks sometime this month.
OK,after 28 years of tournament fishing, here are most of my tricks...... Fish deeper.,...fish shallower,...... Fish faster.......fish slower...... Fisher bigger baits.....fish smaller Baits.... Fish same Baits in n different place.....fish different Baits in same place......then, you have two of my favorite patters to try........ Hope pattern, and prayer pattern. Been known to try both of those at the same time, and while trying all the above choices. Good luck!
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.
