Thread: First trip to Grenada

Hello fellow fisherman ,my Dad and I will be making out first trip to Grenada From central Arkansas on April 9-13 and will be staying at Hugh White. We decided some time ago to go fish the best places for all different freshwater fish, to date we have been to Lake of the Woods Minn for walleye, Santee Cooper SC for catfish/red ear/bluegill, Lake Fork Texas for largemouth, Sturgeon Bay Wisconsin for smallmouth, Red and Whiter River in Ar for rainbow/brown trout, a couple trips to Ontario Canada for smallmouth/walleye/pike/muskie. So this year is Grenada for crappie and later in the fall we are heading to Cave Run Lake Ky for muskie. I am pretty capable of finding and figuring out the fish on a new lake, but could use some advice on navigating Grenada, where the best place to launch a glass boat would be, if there is much structure in the lake? As well any local advice on locating and catching fish would be appreciated. I am used to single pole jig fishing and will sometimes throw minnows depending on what the crappie want, I recently built a spider rig setup to learn to use, so what would be the best method for this time of the year?? Best advice is to run that glass boat aground and hop out and start fishing. I'm serious bring your waders. water down here is muddy and these fish spawn in 16 to 30 inches of water. Good luck. Ps bring the waders

Staying in a cabin at Hugh White you'll be between 2 good ramps. Grenada Landing at the south end of the dam and South. maybe North Graysport north of Gore Springs. Watch the lake level on the COE site. Look farther down the threads for ramp launch levels. At Graysport you'll be in the timber, stump field.
We camp or get one of the bigger cabins at Riverside Resort, Mammoth Springs, AR. The river front is better for the kids and some great trout fishing spots. During the winter months a group of us will share 2 or 3 cabins for a weekend. Great fishing because of less or no traffic on the river.

As far as putting your glass boat in the water all the ramps will be usable, I usually chose the ramp by wind direction. Safe travels, sounds like yall are making some awesome memories.
