    Default Yocona River

Anybody know what it empties into? I've been up and down most of the bigger rivers, and I can't say that I've seen the Yocona joining in. It's got to go somewhere.

    Anybody know where?

The Coldwater river meets up with the Tallahatchee river north of hwy 322 between Lambert and hwy 35. Northeast of the meet up it's the Old Tallahatchie river. The Yocona river meets up with the Panola Quitman floodway south of hwy 322, southeast east of Crowder. The Yocona river meets the Tallahatchee river north of hwy 32 about half way between Brazil and Charleston.

Might be some good fishing where those two rivers intersect, if a man could find a place to slip a jonboat in. Think about all those big crappie being dumped from Sardis and Enid this time of year Just a thought!

Thank you fellows for the information. Checking out the Gazetteer makes it all look different than it does actually being on the water. Crazy stuff. I'm going to have to take the book with me next time I go.

I'm always around, but I ain't been doing much fishing of any kind so I've been quiet. I usually get in trouble if when I talk too much anyway! Prayers for everybody to have a safe and happy Christmas.

Hopefully you won't all get lumps of coal.

bird down pointed it out so I checked 2 other map sites. The Tallahatchie river flows into McLvor channel making it the Panola Quitman Floodway north of hwy 6 west of Batesville. The Yocona river flows into the floodway below hwy 322 south of Crowder.
The Old Little Tallahatchie river is cut off on the southwest side of the floodway and hwy 6.
The Yocona river looks like a channel from west of hwy 51 to where it flows into the floodway.
The Old Yocona river flows into the Old Little Tallahatchie river north of hwy 322 before meeting the Coldwater river between Lambert and Crowder.

You can launch a small boat below the weir at Sardis and fish to the ramp at hwy 51. That should be an 8 or 9 mile trip. We use to fish this area before the weir when I was a kid.
You can launch a small boat at the end of the riprap at Enid and drag it up the bank at hwy 35.
The next ramp is on the floodway at Paducah Wells rd north of Charleston off of hwy 35.
The next ramp is at the Tallahatchee river and hwy 32 between Webb and Charleston. One map shows it opens up like a lake and another shows it all the same small river.
There's a ramp on hwy 332 where the Coldwater and Old Little Tallahatchie rivers come together. Go up the Tallahatchie a bit where you'll find the Old Yonoca river. It ought to be a good spot if the Asian Carp aren't bad.
Don't lock your motor down. Be ready to back up if your trolling motor is on the front of the boat.
