Been thinking about cranks lately... Several people will start with a solid color like chartruse, then paint a different color strip down the back Like one pink stripe, one orange stripe, ect.. If a crappie bites up, and not down, what does it mater what color the back is?

Good question. My favorite crank is black and bubble gum. I fish stained water and have wondered if all they see is the pink stripe on the bottom which makes more sense to me than a stripe on the top. I think other than the primary colors the rest of the patterns on baits just bait the buyers.

I like the ones where the different colors go all the way around top and bottom.....just makes sense to me because if the fish is not right along side of the lure all they will see is the bottom color. Arkie has some colored this way.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

If the fish is facing the crank as it approaches, he sees the back first. To look straight ahead, a fish will suspend at an angle in the water instead looking up all the time.
