    Default Depthfinder

Can y'all recommend a good depth finder for under 500$ ? I bass fished with an old roommate on Pickwick a few years ago. He had a really expensive SI Hummingbird unit and we caught fish all day long for 2 days while the others fishing with our group didn't catch much. We were able to look at contour maps and find humps and structure all over the lake that I would have never known was there. I recently moved and now Crappie fish mainly on unfamiliar lakes. I need something to help me use contour maps to find structure or schooling fish similar to the way we did on Pickwick. I can't afford the unit he had but would like something similar of possible, any help is appreciated.

I got The 598 SI last year. I love it. I also like the looks of the new helix 5
Biggest crappie to date is 3 lb 9 oz at grenada in 1988. Still hangs on my wall.
