Default See if I can get an answer here about using two units up front

I asked this question in the electronics forum, but am not getting any answers. The guys here have helped me in the past.

This is concerning trying to run an Eagle 640c and a Lowrance Elite5 at the same time. The Eagle uses the built in transducer on my Terrova and is set at 200 kHz. The Elite5 has the 83/200 kHz which I believe is for the standard Sonar and a 455/800 which is for the down imaging built into the same transducer.

So If I set the Elite5 to use the 83 kHz for the regular Sonar, it will not interfere with the Eagle running 200kHz. This way I can use the Eagles screen purely for Sonar and the Elite 5 for the Map and Down Imaging. Is that correct?

Bruce, if your trying to run them both on the front and at the same time it probably won't work. Very likely you will get cross talk from the beams overlapping even though the are different frequency. If running 2d on front and DI on back would most likely be fine. I run 2d on trolling motor and DI/SI on back with no problem on my boat. Sure hope this helps.

I run 2 Humminbird units up front. 1 for maps and 1 for 2D/DI sonar. The unit that is for maps only does not have the transducer connected, so there is no interference with the other unit. When you turn on the one that is not hooked up to the sonar, a screen will pop up and say "no transducer detected" and give you 3 options (think it is normal mode, simulation mode, and something else). Just pick normal mode and your maps/GPS will sync up and you are ready to go. Hope this helps.

Turn the tranny off on the one you will use as maps, heck dont even hook the tranny up and it shouldnt make any difference. Bunch of guys doing this in the bass world, using 2 units at the console or at the front.

I knew you guys would answer me here. Thanks for the answers. I will just try it and see what happens. I would hate to lose the DI by just using the map.
