    Default Trolling Motor

I bought a brand new boat in March. I mainly crappie fish, but occasionally bass fish, so I chose a minn kota fortrex 80lb thrust for a trolling motor. Just now starting to wonder how bad did I screw up and should have went with the terrova with I-pilot? Any inputs regarding this subject? My logic for the fortrex was because its foot powered with a lift rope. So if i got hung up near the bank I could lift the rope and troll right up to the bait in shallow water. And didn't figure it would be that easy with the terrova because of the way it stows and deploys. Now Im realizing that Im thinking that my bass fishing is on the down and out. The more I learn about crappie the less im motivated to ever throw a bass bait. So would like to have inputs on whether I should sell fortrex and buy terrova? I have side and down image graphs and trolling pods. set up to solo pole, spider rig, and troll cranks. Thatnks for any advice.

The Terrova is actually easier to run in super shallow waters. Raise the head straight up or hit the latch and tilt it.

Went to I pilot this year. Should have done it long ago. I have the foot control but always use the remote. Anchor, repeat track or set course and forget it are cats meow. I'm no longer worn out at the end of the day. Can stand up and walk around with no interruption. You'll like it

Once you get use to fishing with it, it's a nightmare to fish without it.

    Yes. Next question.

Seriously, I have had both. I will never fish without a Terrova IPilot again. After a little learning, I think the electric foot control is just as easy to use as the foot powered. (That is if you are getting old like me and like to fish sitting down. It is a bit of a problem for me to run the Terrova foot control while standing. )

Oh. And one other thing. Get one bigger than you think you will need. I promise. (that is the wisdom of experience talking)

Thankyou sir! And i do like to fish sitting down! hahaa. Now I have another question. If I sell my fortrex, i can buy a terrova for almost an even swap. May cost me a $100 or 2. is the Ipilot link a little bit of improve for a lotta more money or is it well worth the extra money? Because i think Its about $700 more, if my research is correct. I have 2 humminbirds, 859 and 899.

What size are you looking for, if not mistaken its 3 or 4 hundred difference when ordering it new. If you order it as an add on its 800. Brian at BBG is most likely the best source for one. didn't know a fortrex would sell that high used but on Bass Boat Central I bet you can move it if not on here.

I dont know but it was $1299.99 new. I dont know what I should ask for it, should it sell. But im all about giving pretty good deals. I have a guy interested all I have to do is make up my mind and its gone. Was thinking I needed an 80lb. Thats what my fortrex is. I don't mind coming out of pocket on it. Just wanna make sure its the right decision. And i want to buy exactly what i want so im not buying different things.
