Yep. Get you some stuff just to get by. Put the pretty lady up front and find some fish for her. The rest will work out. I chauffeured my wife around for a few years running the ipilot from the back of the boat and putting her on fish. She'll figure it out and want to have better gear, then you'll get to borrow her good fishing stuff when you are going by yourself. I knew my wife had it figured out when she turned to me one day and said this trolling pole (a cheapo) wasn't acting like the others to "get rid of it", so I gladly obliged:biggrin Here is a before and after picture. It didn't happen overnight. She is my very best fishing buddy that likes to have adequate gear for the job.
I use the b&m westpoint crappie poles...12 ft...about 24 bucks each, and they work great for me. Just got in 6 reels (baitcasters) that are refurbished, and they look great for my use....I think 6 bucks each. For crankbaits, I use the same poles in different lengths (westpoint) and okuma 15 line counter reels, about 29 bucks per reel, I think at Northwoods Outdoors. Good posts here...if you skimp, you will eventually have to upgrade, and it will cost you more than twice as much in the long run. Better to buy slowly and get the best you can afford....it will pay off.
p.s........I have the spyderloks from Gene, and I love them!
Had way too much trouble with my 25 etech. Ran fast but would fool itself into thinking it was overheating and shut down. 7 trips to the shop later traded down to a 20 merc. Slow as can be but never let me down yet.

Only cost a little bit more to go first class man, and it WILL save you money in the long run, because you wont be buying stuff thats not as good or dont last and then going back and buying first class after all. If ya dont have the money to go first class, just save it up until you do. Everyone on here has made that mistake and will probably do it again before we die, but we all know better. Feels kinda like hitting your thumb with a hammer, once this is realized. Hurtz!
