Im thinking about going with this set of 4 from pinnacle for $100
Crappie Pole Rod Pinnacle Graphite Composite Combo 12' w Q 101 Reel Set of 4 | eBay
I use those "pank" reels also. They are mid quality/low cost reels that really get the job done. Those pinnacles are pretty sweet as well, though I got my start with 6 BnM West Point poles, which I still have. They are tough glass poles that can bounce around in the bottom of the boat without getting broken.
Those are the poles we are talking about, but for a few dollars more get those pink reels. Those little reels your not going to pull cranks with and they will not hold up.
What did you spray them with, WD-40?
AGAIN......main thing is "keep the lady in the front of the boat happy."
If you both like to fish go on and get the GOOD STUFF. I wasted my money with cheaper stuff and 2 years later I was back to spending more money on the GOOD STUFF. Its very addictive/ relaxing. So go ahead and spend the money up front.
