    Default Line Counter Question

My Dad and I are finally breaking down and buying some line counters. The days of stretching out yellow power pro and marking every 10 feet with a Sharpie marker are over. We are going to buy 6 Okuma Magnas from Grizzly Jig unless someone has a better brand or cheaper place to recommend.

One question though. I really like braided line (power pro). Wanted to know if the Magna line counter has trouble with counting the thinner and slicker braided line. We bought the cheap clip on counters and they would not count anything but mono. ANyone have this trouble. WOuld hate to spool up 100 bucks in braid and find out the counter wont' work. Thanks

Put on 40 braid and it will be dead on, back it with some cheap mono and put on a couple hundred feet of braid. Make sure the spool is full otherwise it will be off.

magna works not by the line friction but by the spool turning. Works without line at all. It is important that the spool be filled properly for the numbers to be correct.

Not sure it really matters what kind they are, ifn the spool aint full they wont read rite. With that said it all relative. If they are all filled the same and you can duplicate then it doesn't matter. I started using this until I can get my new reels and not sure I am in any hurry, it works great and is stout as well.
