Do yall use braid in clear water? I've had 10lb braid on my jig pole for years but last week I was fishing a spring-fed lake with much better visibility than the lakes I usually fish so I switched out the reel with one that had been on one of my spider rigging poles that had mono on it.

I ended up fishing my ultralite spinning rod most of that day, we didnt get any bites around the timber we were jiging and ended up finding some shallow in a cove. I have a 6'9 St Croix ultralite crappie series spinning rod, I had it spooled with 4lb mono and was casting a 1/16th oz roadrunner with a curly tail body and flat wore them out. About half of them were blacknose and fought like crazy. Most fun I've had crappie fishing in a long time.
    I got 350 heads on a 305 engine.
I get 6 miles to the gallon.
I aint got no good intentions.

The water is not very clear in the where I fish. But braid sure lasts a long time!

I hate the stuff. Spend all day trying to unwrap it from your rod tips.

I use braid for Heavy jigs, Spoons, Blades 1/2 ounce and up, always use a fluorocarbon leader. For lighter jigs the heavier braid seems to have a negative impact on being able to keep jig at depth. For the bulk of my jig fishing using 1/32 or lighter up to 1/8 jigs I prefer Tatsu or Magna thin. My Go to Braid is 20/8 and my floro or mono range from 4# to 8# Depending on where I am fishing.
