I 17' Challanger Bass Boat with a 115 Mercury. It is mounted on a manual jack plate. The trim has gone out. OK here is my question
A new trim assembly is 935.00 + tax a used one is 600.00. What do you guys think about putting a CMC trim and tilt unit on and doing away with the jack plate brand new is 699.00?
It will do an excellent job.

can you wire it so that you can run it from the motor and from the bow as well as from the console. If not I would opt for the trim assembly myself.
Steven, you can.
What model is your Merc, I may have a trim unit for it.

I would keep the manual jackplate and add the CMC. The setback will help a little with speed and proper height adjustment.
I would rebuild the one you have. It's only an electric motor with a small pump and cylinder. The motor probably needs brushes.

Thanks for checking. I called CMC and the suggested to remove the Jack plate because theirs is already ofset 6" so I think that is the way I am going. Thanks guys! !!
