My point was more to the fact that as a % of total crappie in the upper lake, not that many get sucked down. They're just all corralled up in such a small body of water which makes it easy picking for trolling. Maybe a lot more go down than I think. As long as a few stick around up top for single pole fishing, I'm good to go.

More fish go thru that spillway than u would think. Biologist have said the amount of fish caught in a year is not a drop in the bucket compared to what goes out the spillway. I have also heard that on average 80 % of harvestable fish are either caught or go thru the spillway in one year. Harvestable meaning above legal size limit. With that being said, why in the world would they move the length down to 11 inches! I know I have gotten way off topic but it's just something to think about. Also, I really don't know what to think about biologist after hearing there butla reports the last few years.

Why cant you single pole fish on the lower lake and get in on the easy pickings?

Oh I could. I just prefer fishing the stumps and cypress trees if the water ever gets to that point. I generally catch a limit most days if the wind don't blow me away. I stay down around Holiday lodge and just prefer not driving down to the lower lake if I can keep from it. But that said, I caught lots of fish earlier down by the damn last year before moving to the trees later on. Getting less and less structure to fish each year. man, if 80% of fish are going down the spillway they ought to put a screen up or something to prevent that! Where do they all end up? MS river?
