We need a cold spell (below 30 degrees) that will stay around for 10 days or so and those fish will get right. The nastier the weather the better. It's kind of like sauger fishing locally. lol

i didnt realize the weir was/has a controllable structure/gate. thought it was essentially a rock dam.

There is a gate that can be raised at one end of the structure. The COE has used it mainly to drain lower lake when they are doing spillway inspection and repair.

OK....this is gonna prolly be redundant...but, I've never fished Sardis Lower before. I'm intrigued with it and wud like to give it a shot. Can u guys give me a little heads up on what has to happen, etc., before it gets good? and maybe when to expect it. I know the COE has a lot to do with your estimates with lowering water and all, but just a rough guess. Many thanks...JD

According to my log Jan 21 thru Feb 20. Not saying I have not caught them before or after but that's when I have brought out fish consistently.

When you are driving the gravel road to the ramp below the weir you will cross a bridge looking thing. That's the gate. It flows into Spalding creek.
