I have been a "member" for a few years now but have mostly remained quiet minus a few pm's. I thought that I made an introductory post as well as a few other small posts in the forum several years ago when I first joined but my post total doesn't reflect that right now. However, if I am incorrect and I never properly introduced myself then I owe everyone an apology and hope you accept this as my new introduction.
I owe this site and the members a huge thank you for all the knowledgeable information that I have obtained while simply viewing others posts. I joined crappie.com in the hopes that I would be able to teach myself (with the help of crappie.com) how to be a successful crappie fisherman. This is still a work in progress!
My background:
I grew up hunting and fishing (bass & trout). The past few years, I have developed a desire to learn how to fish for crappie. I have been reading this forum for several years trying to pick up on new things to try. I have bought a few jigs, crankbaits, crappie rods & reels, etc that I have read about from some of the member reviews that I ran across that met my budget.![]()
After getting the gear and obtaining some knowledge from you guys, I took off to the water to catch me some crappie!!After several several several skunks and wondering what the heck am I doing wrong I finally realized that 'years of experience' was not on my side and although I had read about and bought gear that others have caught crappie with didn't mean I was going to catch them!
Long story short.... I'm not giving up and still hope to bring home some good eats one day that I leave that lake..

D2 hang in there. I was in your shoes a week ago. I also viewed and researched post on here for several years. In a week of posting I have made many new friends and all kinds of information to help me catch more fish. The guys/gals on this forum are a class act and they will help you in any way they can. Not sure exactly where you fish but feel free to contact me if you have questions about Grenada Lake.
Thanks Cl and CC! CC, I live just a few minutes away from Arkabutla lake so mainly fish there and Sardis lake. If I get to catching them around here and get my confidence up, I may try Grenada lake one day!
Welcome aboard! I'm looking forward to you posting some pics of a nice mess of crappie this spring.

I live on butla and don't fish it much---that may be part of the problemat least over the last year:D
Welcome D2. The best way is do what you just did. Introduce yourself, join in and get to know these folks and everyone will do their best to help you out. A few of us fish Butla when it's half way decent. I for one will help any time I can with what little I know. Like someone else said if possible you need to come to spring camp where you can put names and faces together.
